in your life. Make them a habit pattern and you will live a life worth living.
Many books have been written on how to be successful, but most of
them can be summed up in a few simple words. Follow these steps to success, be
true to them all the years of your life, and you’ll live a life worth living:
1. Do the right thing. We usually know what the right thing to do is. Actually doing it however, is often another thing. No excuses here. If we don’t do the right thing in life, we can expect some bad consequences.
2. Clear, written goals - Know EXACTLY what you want in life. It’s hard to get what you want in life if you aren’t clear on what it is you want. Spend some time thinking about this. And keep in mind, goals often change as we advance in life.
Also keep in mind, it’s your life. Don’t chase the dreams that someone else has for you. Chase the dreams that a Higher Power put in YOUR heart.
3. Once you have those goals, keep your mind focused on success (what you want) and off what you don’t want. In other words, keep your eyes on the road ahead, not on the ditch that’s on the side of the road.
4. Keep learning every day. Knowledge is power. Make the most of your mind. It really is a terrible thing to waste.
5. Discipline. Napolean Hill called it the master key to success.
6. Persistence. Winston Churchill said it best – “never give up.”
7. Double your failure rate. The sooner you learn what doesn’t work, the faster you’ll find what does.
8. Step up to the plate more often and play the percentages.
9. Remember that life is often a game of small, marginal improvements - A Major League Baseball player that gets on average 3 hits in 10 at bats has a multi-million dollar contract. A player that gets on average 2 hits in 10 at bats is often out of the league in short order.
Just one extra base hit on average in every 10 at bats made the difference between the hall of fame player and the player who is looking for another line of work.
10. Treat every person in the world as the most important person in the world. An extension of the golden rule.
11. Treat YOURSELF as the most important person in the world. Success starts with positive self-esteem and self-image.
12. Develop a winning, likeable personality. Never underestimate the likeability factor. Especially when you’re on trial to save your neck.
13. Develop the trait of optimism. Try our Daily Five Exercise - it will help you become more optimistic.
14. Make success a habit pattern. Both successful and unsuccessful people are creatures of habit. Successful people make a habit of doing what needs to be done. Winning then becomes a habit. Unfortunately, so does losing.
15. Strive to outperform yourself every day – constant improvement. Strive for excellence in everything that is important to you. The market only pays superior rewards for superior performance and results.
16. Live by universal laws. You wouldn’t expect to jump out of an airplane and be able to fly. You shouldn’t expect to reap good results in life if you sow bad thoughts and actions.
17. Go the extra mile. Life often rewards the extra effort. And so does the marketplace.
18. Get around the right people. Stay away from toxic people.
19. Develop the habit of being grateful for whatever good comes your way. You’ll appreciate things more and you may just end up getting even more as a result.
20. Have fun. Life is short.
