Use these weight loss tips to help you overcome food cravings - Most of us suffer from food cravings from time to time. For many of us, it's every day. We
have certain foods that we consider weaknesses. Read how to deal with and overcome these cravings. Apply
these weight loss tips and you'll get great results with your weight loss eating plan.
Food cravings - in all likelihood, they are playing a big role in keeping you from getting real results
with your diet plan and weight loss program. That's because if you avoided certain foods that are causing you
weight gain, you would lose weight much more quickly - and probably keep it off once you lost it.
So, in order for your diet plan to be successful, you have to overcome these regular food cravings. You're going to get
food cravings - almost all of us do. But you have to find a successful weight loss plan that keeps you from giving in to them.
Use these weight loss tips to help you deal with food cravings:
Exercise - Intense exercise can help erase the food craving. And if you are having a nicotine craving,
intense exercise has even been shown to help erase the craving for a cigarette.
Drink water - When you feel the cravings come on, and you want to reach for your favorite pig out food,
try a tall glass of water.
Drink eight glasses of water every day. This will not only help remove toxins from your system, it
will also help you lose weight. Eight glass of water each day will also help keep the food cravings to a minimum.
Make healthy eating a habit. The more junk food you eat - whether it's candies, fast food, greasy pizza, donuts, sodas, etc. - the more
you crave. Not only that, the more of these foods you eat on a regular basis, the habit forming and addicting they are.
That's why
it is so important that you develop healthy eating habits as soon as you can.
Wait 10 - 15 Minutes - When you get a food craving, wait 10 - 15 minutes before grabbing that food. Drink a glass of water. After several
minutes, there is a good chance the craving will pass if you don't give in to it.
Reach for a healthier snack - Instead of reaching for that unhealthy food that is keeping you from getting
results with your weight loss plan, try a healthier snack. Grab a handful of unsalted walnuts, an apple, a protein shake, etc.
Keep junk food out of the house - You're only human. If junk food is easily accessible in the house,
odds are you're going to succumb to it when you get cravings.
Try bananas - They are not the most exciting food to eat, but bananas will really fill you up and help defeat a food craving.
Eat just a few bites - If you absolutely must give in to the food craving, walk away from the food after a couple small bites. Take a couple
bites and throw it out. After a few minutes, the craving will subside.
Apply the 75% rule - If you're engaged in full combat - a big meal, walk away from the meal when you are about three-fourths (75%) full. Of course,
there's no way of knowing EXACTLY when you are three-fourths full, but you can sense when your stomach has had enough. Your stomach is full before the appetite
center of your brain gets the message. After about 10 - 20 minutes, something interesting will happen. You won't feel hungry anymore. The appetite center of the brain
will get the message - you had enough to eat. Make this a habit.
Grab some gum- Shove some sugar free gum in your mouth to help combat a craving.
Get busy with something - Do something that gets your mind off your food craving. Turn on the TV, talk to your spouse, call an old
friend, take your kids to the park -- anything to get your mind off your craving.
Save the junk food for times of celebration - Instead of eating junk food on a regular basis, let yourself have the junk food
of your choice on special occasions. Save them for when you have accomplished something special. Create an incentive program
for yourself where you reward yourself for being disciplined or for reaching an important goal. Read more about
how to set up an incentive system for yourself to help you with your diet motivation. You can even set up "reward days" where you eat the foods you want
on certain days when you've achieved an important goal with your weight loss plan.
Consider keeping a diet journal. You can help work through your food cravings on paper. This will
help with your diet motivation. Consider jotting down how you successfully have dealt with food cravings
in the past. Read more about keeping a diet journal or a fitness journal.
Food cravings are serious stuff, and so is food addiction. You have to regularly use healthy weight loss tactics like these to beat them. Make these a habit, and you will see real results with
your weight loss plan.
Don't beat yourself up if you give in to the craving. You're human. Beating yourself up over the
occasional
slip up is only going to demotivate you and discourage you. Read more
